Has Nobody with an All American RE done a Steering/Fan filter change and flush?

Somebody here has to be doing general maintenance.

I posted previously with no response.

The steering box has a drain somewhere on it. I need to be pointed to the right bolt etc to undo for the drain. PLEASE.

I already drained the Canister and replaced several questionable High-pressure hoses. I just need to finish the drain refill and replace the filter and gasket.

Help please.

Thanks

The drain should be out the hose. Really theres no need to drain the steering gear.. It should be the high point on the system anyway..

I still have to replace mine. Its leaking out the top seal, but they put my main air tank and all my brake lines right below it..

Out the hose, At the front of the bus or at the rear if the Gearbox is the high point?
Just Loosen the hose and drain... I thought the bits of information I read, said there are two bolts to loosen on the gearbox itself to drain the box. But lacked adequate pictures.

Thanks

Unless you have had a system failure like a pump or fan motor failure just refill it. Did you change the filter in the canister?

I was going to do that next after the rest drained out. And the new gasket.

There should be a drain plug at the bottom of the canister. I just use my vacuum oil changer to withdraw all the oil out of it. It makes less mess that way.

Ok then, thanks... that is already drained. I thought there would be more to come.
The Book said something like 20 quarts.
I have 23 quart oil catch pan and it is not close to being full.

I thought the steering hydraulics and the fan hydraulics on the RE were two separate systems. The initial thread seemed to have pictures from two different systems. I don't have one so I'm just asking if the "Steering/Fan filter change" could have two filters and reservoirs?

I see now how I got it wrong. What I still don't understand is in the "All American Steering Troubleshooting" section it refers to different fluid (10W40 etc..) requirements other than the 10W30 from the hydraulic fan section.

I have seen at least two different sets of information.
But both overlap the 10w 30 was Texaco Havoline as recommended. But Cardinal bus said any Regular non synthetic 10 w 30 would be fine.
