ISC 8.3 Engine Life
I'm looking at a 36 passenger bus with coach seating this weekend with an 01 ISC 8.3. I dont know the horsepower rating. It has 267,000 miles on the engine. The bus was fleet maintained by a city up to around 230k and then sold to current owner who put another 40k driving a sport team to events. The bus ran a 37 mile route between two towns in the mountains for the city. The bus is low geared and max speed is around 60 mph and was likely running at max governed rpm when driven by the sports team. Current owner claims it had regular maintanence and no current mechanical issues. He did have the front seal replaced while he owned it. I think this engine should have alot of life left if it really was well maintained.
Does anyone with similar milage on thier 8.3 or ISC have any thoughts on this?
Any specific things to look for on an ISC engine?
I know the CAPS injection system can crap out are there any warning signs other that the engine running poorly?
Thanks
Ted
