Radiator Shutters Delete and Thermostat

Hi all,

I have just completed installing an intercooler on my 90' Bluebird 33' with a Cummins 5.9. I ended up deleting the radiator Shutters to use the space for the intercooler, thinking they were more of a cold weather thing, and we are fair weather campers.

I tried to warm the engine up today, but it took a very long time, and I'm not sure that I got it completely up to temperature. Is it possible that there isn't a thermostat in the engine, and it just had shutters? Or maybe I need to replace the thermostat. Thanks!

Grant

the shutters shouldnt matter.. it very well may be that the thermostat went bad and no one knew because the shutters were there.. I have the shutters on one of my busses and you really dont need them if travelling on the highway and have a good thermostat.. I keep them on that bus because I live in ohio and it tends to be my winter cruiser..
