Transmission Question/options

I have 1964 Dodge Bus that I will eventually start working on. Overall length is about 28 ft. I have. 1994 Cummins donor that will go in the truck. The engine will be built for around 400 hp. We just got done rebuilding the 47rh transmission for it. It was built with upgraded parts and is listed as a 485 hp capable transmission kit. Is this transmission after upgrades worth using in the bus? Is it heavy duty enough or should I lean more towards an Allison? Thanks for any insight. Attached are a few pics of the bus, donor truck , and my other Cummins swapped truck. Thanks in advance!

awesome project!!! there are a lot of companies that made their business on swapping allisons into Dodges behind 5.9s, I love cummins engines.. some of the best out there.. but in my opinion dodge transmissions sucked.. im not as fan of them in heavy vehicles.. if its purpose built, there are parts these days to beef them up.. transgo makes a nice kit for those.. I think sonnax makes a billet shaft kit.. the removeable overdrive section is nice because when you wipe that clutch you can change it pretty easily.

for anything heavy id want an allison.. it wont be cheap but an allison 1000 can be built to take a lot.. ive been running a 500 HP capable allison in my short bus for 5 years without issue.. since I got a TCM thats EFIlive tuneable I have built shift tables and adjusted the pressures to dial it in nicely.. its in a bus about the size of yours.. behind a 7.3, the 7.3 has a tuner and bigger injectors.. ive not dyno'd it but we figure its 350 HP range (the bus flies)..

mine was built with an SAE3 bell to mate up to the industrial style engine mounts.. also has a park pawl in it although ive never put the shifter in it to use it.. suppose to support 30000 lbs at a 3% slope..

Thanks for the info. Kind of the way I’m leaning. I’ve been looking for a bigger chassis donor. If I can find one with 22.5 wheels, Cummins, and an Allison I would be golden.
