What alternator is this?

Hello- my alternator went out. It's making a loud noise and not charging the batteries. The bus is a '96 thomas with 8.3L Cummins Diesel. Here's a photo:

I see a lot of options online- do they have a standard bolt pattern, or is it bus specific? Do I need a one wire hookup?

Thanks!

Looks like a standard Chrysler alternator. Likely where ever you replace it will require a core charge, so I would pull that one, take it to your local O'Reilly's or parts store of choice, and have them match it up to a new/reman unit.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm looking at the alternators on amazon that are a lot cheaper than the local auto parts shops. I guess my question is more about compatibility. Can I just bolt up any alternator meant for Cummins?

Standard denso style alternator. Remove it and see if there is a tag on it that describes the options or gives a part number. You can purchase new at many places, but I'd recommend going to a parts store to avoid any warranty issues. That, and they can also test it out to confirm that it's bad.

They're also rebuildable if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the replies, here's what I found if anyone is in a similar situation:

Wilson 90-15-6424 160 amp alternator

compatible alternators listed on the Wilson site:

Delco 24Si or 24Si HP
Bosch E8

I had it tested at O'Reilly and it failed, has an audible bad bearing, and they wanted $245 for a re-manufactured one with $60 core deposit. I found a compatible one on Amazon for $95

The bracket where the alternator broke off on mine, so I'll be doing some welding too

Disconnect the battery negative and pull the plug from the Allison TCU before you weld on the engine.
