My husband and I are becoming members and I was just wondering if anyone else here is?

Wait, that's a nude organization?! I thought it was something else entirely... Americans for the Annihilation of Natural Resources... You know, a pro-fossil fuels organization. LOL just kidding but you gotta admit either interpretation could apply to this group!

Long-time member of AANR here, and TNS even longer.

And I have enjoyed "freedom from textile-addiction" all my life. Why would I be ashamed of Mother Nature's finest handiwork?!

American Association for Nude Recreation is a trade group, a marketing group, for clothing-optional resorts. Individual (customer) members enjoy discounts on admission and camping etc. at the resorts.

The Naturist Society (Foundation) is for individuals, and they have a committee working to abolish laws that prohibit simple nudity in recreational setting. They also publish alerts when new issues arise, so members can voice their opinion to local legislators.

What else can I tell you?

While I am here....
Anybody seen the body-acceptance movie Embrace; The Documentary by Taryn Brumfitt? Ought to be required "reading".

I read somewhere that if you want to lose weight, put a naked picture of yourself on the fridge.
I did that. My whole family lost weight!

Peace

Why only a picture, and settle for family weight loss?
Why not go for widespread fitness and health? No camera and printer needed!

But all right, here is a picture -- of some fat guy still repairing bicycles while his camp-mates are tearing down the camp; Burning Man couple years ago.
Millicent in background (this is a bus forum, yes).

Frying bacon has also been known to "throw sparks". lol

Many AANR facilities are somewhat high-dollar resorts.

"My local" resort is Laguna del Sol in Wilton, Northern California.
I go there a couple times a year for complete and absolute relaxation.

They have everything from dry tent-camping to luxurious hotel rooms.
And six or seven pools and hot-tubs (one of each indoors), two children's playgrounds, a lake, archery range, dog park, hiking trails, excellent restaurant, and a marvelous river that I love swimming in.

Again, it is the most relaxing place on Earth that I know of. (It deserves repeating! lol )

A few years ago, famed photographer and environmentalist Jack Gescheidt took several marvelous photos there, with his main theme being trees. Here is one of the shots.
This is simply one example of the "magical" atmosphere of the place (boosted by Jack's photographic skills, admittedly).

Yes, frying bacon can do much the same ...

That is an interesting photo ... the people do look much like tree trunks.

Yes, Jack's Tree Spirit Project is all about the connection between humans and trees.

At this photo-session, we were actually done with the main objective which was the largest willow on the property. This row of smaller trees was secondary, but it turned out pretty OK anyway.

I should point out that the image is modified digitally. Jack takes a bunch of photos, then assembles the best final image he can create, using details from any of the photos.
So, he is a photo artist AND a digital artist! And an environmental activist.

Anyway....

Did any of us bother to welcome Rollin Gnome-Mad to the Skoolie forum?! What happened to our manners?!
WELCOME to the mad-house, Rollin Gnome-Mad!

Now, let me try to anticipate the next questions.

Be aware that one does not just show up for the first time at an AANR resort and "pay five bucks to get in".
I have only been to Laguna del Sol, but there... first-time guests need an appointment, which consists of a tour of the property on a "limo" golf cart, and a class-room orientation -- while the office runs background checks on you.

Thus, an AANR resort is probably the safest and most civilized place on Earth.
You will never know by looking what the folks you meet there do for a living, but the place is popular with law enforcement officers who can safely bring their families and never risk bumping into any of their "business customers".

Now....
I have a philosophical issue with all "fenced-in" clothing-optional resorts. They should not exist! That is, they should not be needed.
And that is the concept behind The Naturist Society, while AANR kind'a milks the problem for profit.

But so long as society still has the body-shame, and double standards, and perverts running loose, and such nonsense, an AANR resort is hecka nice place to get away from it all.

Now... about our buses.
I have taken Millicent to Laguna del Sol, but you should probably expect that some resorts will "question" the appearance of a skoolie, and especially a "work-in-progress", which many of our buses always are (very much including Millicent).
After all, the place is wall-to-wall with Multi-Hundred-Of-Thousands-Of-Dollars-RVs and the conservative senior citizens who can afford them.

So, as always, I recommend we keep our appearance in mind. I am dirt poor myself, and I do value a bit of a "rugged individualist" image. But I can always make the effort to avoid offending anyone.

There. Today is a Sunday, and that was my sermon.

Thanks for the welcome. Now that I know I won't be shunned, I will offer a bit more information. My husband and I have been married 20+ years and we have 4 kids. We have always been body aware in our house.

A few years ago, hubby and I started down a more naturalist life. We have gone a few places like Haulover Beach and Fantasy Fest in FL. Now that we know we are comfortable we have joined AANR. I will look into TNS.

I try to be a good member and do searches first but didn't find anything about the AANR. As far as the skoolie, I am still in the process of converting him. We would only be road trippers, not full timers.

Wonderful!
And Haulover Beach is a showcase success story where The Naturist Society contributed to establishing this officially nude-legal beach.
I have not been there, because I live on the west coast, but anything is possible ("they tell me" ).

Instead, I live "all of" 19 miles from a World famous hot springs resort where nudity is simply the unwritten norm -- Harbin Hot Springs here in Northern California.

Also, I have been active in the annual Burning Man event for many years, where nudity is almost universally accepted.
Very few actually go nude there, for two reasons I can think of at the moment -- the scorching sun, and the fact that Burning Man is in a sense an art festival so people wear artistic costumes.

But about the costumes.... The concept seems to be that if the best way to make the costume... just happens to not cover the genitals, then that is how the costume is made and worn. Amazingly logical and level-headed, yes.
The artistry of the costume is what matters.

For example, if the costume is an animal.... Well, tigers do not wear pants! Then, neither would the human in a tiger costume. And the costume might consist entirely of paint. (We do body painting in my camp, among other fun.) All perfectly agreeable at Burning Man.

I ramble and babble, and go on and on, don't I? LOL
I simply want you and your family to feel welcome here.
The widespread US phenomenon of fundamentalist-prudery with a nasty-double-standard-on-top can be overcome! And we are doing it.
(Of course, I grew up in Europe, which probably helps.)

Probably one of the models who lifts it to that extraordinarily gorgeous level.
