Project Hail Mary
I listen to lots of audio books, especially when working on a bus or driving (see...here's my skoolie appropriate tie in). One of my favorite recent listens is the new Andy Weir novel, "Project Hail Mary." It's a fun listen with some geeky science and a phenomenally well done performance by the narrator, Ray Porter.
I'm definitely open to any other suggestions, if anyone has anything they've really liked. I try to listen to a broad range of genres so fire away. I'm out of new reads/listens.

Haha, you fooled me! I saw the post title and excitedly thought "ooohhh, he's bought another bus, and with a name like that it's got to be amazing!"
Well, an audio book isn't as exciting as a bus, but I'll take it. Thanks for sharing! I haven't read/listened to anything good lately myself, but just today somebody that I generally trust recommended that I read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I know nothing about this book and take no responsibility if it's a complete waste of time

I've made a few attempts at audiobooks, but the format just doesn't work for me. When I'm reading a book normally, I will often stop and think about something tangential triggered by what I just read, and then return to the book. With audiobooks, this always leaves me some degree behind where the narration is, from a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
Recent books I'd recommend:
Cathedral, Forge and Waterwheel: Technology and Invention in the Middle Ages. Basically a thorough debunking of the standard idea that technology regressed when the Roman Empire ended and then remained stagnant from 500-1500 AD until The Renaissance came along to get things moving again.
The Lost History of 1914. More debunking, this time of the commonly-accepted reasons for why WWI happened in the first place.
The Cigarette Century: The Rise, Fall and Deadly Persistence of the Product That Defined America. The tobacco industry as a whole should be arrested and tried for mass murder.

Thanks, Bert, for so many suggestions - I'm still scrolling through those.
And, thanks to you too MG. I completely understand your listening process and it took me a while myself...but after a few hundred of them I think I'm a believer. I heard an interesting interview of Steven King, who likes to narrate his own books, and he said that one of the things he likes about the format is that he can change the tone or speed or add a pause where he, the author, intends it. I do get that this author-forced pacing isn't for everyone, though. I appreciate the suggested titles and will check them out.
On a side note...one of the most fun books I ever listened to was Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. Don't expect any profound insight into life...but if you've got 24 hours of driving or chores to do and want some fun and funny distraction, this book is very clever and fun.
