Skoolie Encounters in the Wild

Didn't see a topic for this sort of thing, so I figured I'd start one!

Trekked down the driveway Tuesday morning to finish excavating my car from where I'd had to leave it when I finally escaped Roanoke, and went to pick up the roommate at the airport. We spent the day in town and had an encounter in the Walmart parking lot on the way home...

...now I should preface this by saying a year ago, I wouldn't have blinked twice. This time, after parking the car, I meandered on down to take a look at the bus we'd passed while she dug around in her luggage for something.

Big white Genesis, tinted windows, front engine. Cali plates. I think I spooked whoever was in it - didn't realize at first it had an occupant, lol. Very minimal on the inside, though I did make out a bunk bed, I think. Maybe someone bringing their soon to be skoolie home?
Who knows? Either way, a pretty cool chance encounter. Sorry for scaring you, strangers

I didn't get pics but a couple familiar looking skoolies were camped at Walmart this weekend.

Where in VA? I was coming into RVA and saw two! Didn't get pictures. Both looked like family busses

I just got back from a 10 day trip to visit the older kids in Kamloops BC and we encountered a handful of skoolies during that time but, I only managed to get a pic of a couple of them

didn't get to talk with the owners of the blue one, but the two Aussies that were in the white rig gave me a tour and we exchanged some ideas and plans for travel and such. They are here doing what most Aussies do in BC, Ski Bums working resorts in the winter and doing travel/tourism for the summers.

That's Jacksonport, no? I've spent time in Sister Bay every summer of my life except one.

Other side of the peninsula near Fish Creek... I'd have loved to spend my summers up there! So beautiful!

One came into the camp ground I was staying at early in the summer, I'm over in redneck TN and it was surprising to see another schoolie....
White blue bird bus, I dunno why but every time I see a white bus I always think of a prison bus..... I use to have a white van that was a prison van reckon that's why....
I did see a real small shorty at a state park this summer as well but not much to say about that one....

Saw this beaut of a conversion yesterday. Wish I'd gotten a better photo. Obviously a boatbuilder.

Not quite in the wild ...

I just watched a movie on Amaon Prime called "The Secret Handshake" that had a graffiti painted shorty as part of the cast. This is a great family movie.
