We’re behind schedule but I hope we’ll make it out for a day or a night to say howdy. Right now there are two big holes in the roof where we removed the hatches to paint ;)

Got title changed and plate today, planning on leaving Sat am for Quartzsite.
Anyone from the Phoenix area going then?
Also, is 'One Nation Under Goat' going to be there?

Sorry to hear it, guys! [emoji40] That explains why I hadn't yet run into you. Bus is parked outside the shop and will hopefully get looked at tomorrow to see what's up. Fortunately, we have our toad and were able to come out and hang.
Hope y'all get to feeling better - We'd love to meet y'all.

We are home, felt like I dragged the bus the 175 miles. This illness is NASTY...Or is that Natsy?
Good turn out, old 2K4S ran perfectly with our little Tracker 4x4 in tow..Which I never even got unhooked.
Poor Mary is hurting, she was just recovering post chemo and now this.

Went to Skooliepalooza Sunday on our maiden voyage in our not completely converted rv and had a terrific time. Everyone was very friendly and informative and we learned a lot.
I greatly encourage everyone to attend a gathering in person as actually seeing others' conversions and ideas is much more enlightening than just reading about it.
I felt better when I told everyone our bus rode like a brick and everyone said that's just the way it is. I was thinking of changing shocks or something but a little knowledge and experience helped.
Hope to attend others in the future and add to the knowledge base.
Thanks, Steve

Skoolie springs are designed to carry max load which makes for a really stiff ride when empty. Toting anything less than umteen thousand pounds of window lickers they ride like they had no springs at all. You can reduce the spring rate by removing a few leaves or getting new springs at the appropriate rate for whatever "new" weight your rig winds up at.
I reduced my rear springs by 50% but added an extra 350 pounds to the rate on the front to compensate for the much heavier diesel engine I installed.
There are usually local spring houses in most major metro areas or you can check with Eaton Detroit. They have been making vehicle springs since the horse & buggy days and really know their stuff.

Still feel very bad. On a happier note, on the way to SP2 our 3 month old WS took a rock.

Thanks Tango I didn't realize that. I spoke with a local company and they said they could remove some leafs for between $500 and $750. They also said that it probably wouldn't improve the ride of a p30. I'll make a decision after I'm done with the conversion.

WAY too much money just to pull a couple of leaves. It is a chore as the stack of springs on these beasts are big and really heavy, but a few folks here have done it themselves. You do need the right jack & stands and must replace the U Bolts but everything else is just nuts & bolts & time.
Best results are found with the appropriate combination of spring rate & shocks balance to the finished weight. (I had to add shocks to mine on the rear...it never had any)

I took two leaves out of my rear springs just as Tango suggested and the ride became much better. I did however, have to replace the spring pack center bolt with a shorter one. If your bus has rear shocks and you remove leaves check to be sure there is still enough stroke in the shock to avoid its bottoming out internally. Jack

Can you determine that before you actually do it?
