Tango and Cash (sale)

I've heard that, "No news is good news," and, "Bad news waits for no man." Given those disparate current events axioms, I'm leaning towards the former.
I'll eventually be wanting a generator boondocking back-up, but right now, it's a low priority item for me. What with a 30A site, and still having more than enough infrastructure awaiting construction.
But, for the gorilla my dreams at a deep discount, I'll be getting the genny I've had my sights on for some time.
After a brisk PM exchange, I didn't hear back after my last to him, several days ago. A coupla days ago, I texted.
Nada. So y'day, I called with the questions I had for him... And left a voicemail.
Figger if anybody here knew anything, well... see the latter axiom.
My intent is to hand-deliver a Get Well card from as many as can be had of the countless folx here that Tango has helped, joked with, inspired.
The plan was slated for cruising down there on Sunday, due to my allergic reaction to urban areas on weekdays. Not cast in stone, I'll head down when's convenient for him...
So long's it's before Friday; which is when he gets to enjoy all of the VA's amenities, not least of which is intravenous toxins. Again.
I really hate pimping myself out, but due to the nature of the cause, I reckon I can be a little shameless this time.
If any of all y'all reading this care to add your prayers, well wishes, reminiscences, respects, appreciation, happy thoughts... whateva- the thread to do so upon may be found at:

Thank you

No word, so no Houston trekking today.
Still hope to deliver the aforementioned Get Well card to Don, so there's an extention for anybody who'd care to chime in on it...

Still here Matt. No voice mail I could find and my flip phone does not do text. Last PM I saw indicated the 24th or 25th, either of which I am fine with. Try my cell again to make sure the number is correct.

Sorry for any confusion.

How do, Don.
Very cool, and thanx for reaching out. Last PM was timestamped the 19th. Looks like 25th or sixth will do for me. Will try your # again in the AM, within your stated time frame.
And, no worries- I'm well known to confuse easily... [emoji854]

Heading to HOU tomorrow AM (26 June) to meet up with Tango, so there's still time to add condolences to the Get Well card.
I have to say that I'm very disappointed that so few of all y'all have taken the time to step up to the plate.
How is this endeavor any less worthy than the regular outpouring I see, citing chapter and verse on Skoolie lore to a total noob..?

Well, I for one, didn't see any of this until today. I hope you haven't sealed the envelope. He's a great guy that's super knowledgeable.

Nope, it ain't a done deal yet! I'd hoped bringing it up off of the back burner would bring it to folx' attention.

I have no idea how to sign the "card". I do give my sincere wishes and prayers for Don. I feel for him in all ways and wish I could be there to help out in any way I can.

If you have a way to put that in for me it would be much appreciated.

I'm confident any and all well-wishes will be appreciated by Don, and hopefully have some therapeutic value for him as well! 🤞

Yessir, I realised that might be the case, so I edited my reply to direct you, and hopefully others, to where the link might be easily found. [emoji111]

Don;

Miss ya from up here in Kansas! We're praying for a healthy recovery. The people you've influenced (including me BIG TIME), I'm sure are thinking about you. Who else would show up at your favorite watering hole in a chauffer's uniform (I still have the outfit) to spend time with you?

Keep strong!

M

Today is Tango's chemo day. Leave us all have Happy Thoughts for him that it will do a better job than is prognosticked.
.
Aside from getting lost once en route, not screwing my bad back up much worse loading the genset onto my VDub's shotgun seat, and typical midday traffic in an uber-metro area, it went well.
Given Don's schedule and lassitude, it had to pretty much be a TCB visit, sadly. I wish that he had had more time... literally.
His daughter, a lovely woman, is there to help him along. Having a moment to sidebar with her, I asked for the appraisal of his condition.
Terminal.
Having seen what chemo-therapy does to the human body, I had to ask why would he subject himself to that procedure again, wrecking his remaining quality of life?
To gain a little more time to spend with her and the grandkids.
Sweet guy.
Not having been recipient to those blessings, I'd sooner fellate an automatic...
It was heartbreaking, seeing how such an inspired, energetic, and creative man could be brought so low; frail and emaciated.
I would have loved spending more time talking with him; sharing stories, picking his brains for insight and inspiration.., but obviously, this wasn't about me.
His attitude and spirits seemed excellent, particularly amazingly so, given his condition.
I opened the Get Well thread on my fon for him to read during the loading process. (Gotta love those old coots! Don still uses a Star Trek flip fon!)
After reading it thru, he handed it back to me, and added, in typically iconic laconic Tango fashion:
"I think these people must not have enough to do."
God bless, Don.
Thank you for contributing and sharing so much with us bunch of internet strangers, who don't have anything better to do with our time.
Peace, Brother [emoji111]
