CALLER: Is this Pizza Hut?
GOOGLE: No sir, it's Google Pizza.
CALLER: I must have dialed a wrong number, sorry.
GOOGLE: No sir, Google bought Pizza Hut last month.
CALLER: OK. I would like to order a pizza.
GOOGLE: Do you want your usual, sir?
CALLER: My usual? You know me?
GOOGLE: According to our caller ID data sheet, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with three cheeses, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and meatballs on a thick crust.
CALLER: Super! That’s what I’ll have.
GOOGLE: May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat gluten-free thin crust?
CALLER: What? I don’t want a vegetarian pizza!
GOOGLE: Your cholesterol is not good, sir.
CALLER: How the hell do you know that?
GOOGLE: Well, we cross-referenced your home phone number with your medical records. We have the result of your blood tests for the last 7 years.
CALLER: Okay, but I do not want your rotten vegetarian pizza! I already take medication for my cholesterol.
GOOGLE: Excuse me sir, but you have not taken your medication regularly. According to our database, you purchased only a box of 30 cholesterol tablets once at Lloyds Pharmacy, 4 months ago.
CALLER: I bought more from another Pharmacy.
GOOGLE: That doesn’t show on your credit card statement.
CALLER: I paid in cash.
GOOGLE: But you did not withdraw enough cash according to your bank statement.
CALLER: I have other sources of cash.
GOOGLE: That doesn’t show on your latest tax returns, unless you bought them using an undeclared income source, which is against the law!
CALLER: WHAT THE HECK?
GOOGLE: I'm sorry sir, we use such information only with the sole intention of helping you.
CALLER: Enough already! I'm sick of Google, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and all the others. I'm going to an island without the internet, TV, where there is no phone service and no one to watch me or spy on me.

We laugh but I took off my fitbit the day google bought fitbit. The last thing I need is some big tech oligarchy who already knows way too much about me cross-referencing my minute by minute health with my spending habits then telling my insurance company what they should be charging me for health care. Yet that's what we're heading for with blindingly naive abandon.

Yup scary stuff. When my wife was a few weeks pregnant with our first child and it was still too early to tell anyone Facebook was popping up adds for baby products.

Just wait untill our friendly world leaders, global corporations and big tech help us all out with the "Great Reset" of the global economy. Just did a little reading on it and it sounds warm and fuzzy but really quite scary when you look at the elite and ultra rich that are pushing for it. Those individuals are almost always looking out for themselves.

To keep my comment bus related... at what point will a recreational, polluting, CO2 producing, non essential vehicle not be in the best interest of our global society?

Yes. We will go from driving our buses to go camping to riding in trains to camps. Same with all Communist / socialist / fascist regimes throughout history.

And oh yeah,. Perceived Capitalism did that already with the native indians, africans before communism and socialism was even invented.
We ourselves in modern times had something going on with japanese camp during ww2... We did apologize though.

We live with many people on a small globe.. when one takes to much another has to do with less.

If you ever were in Europe , pre covid, but probably even now, you can take a rail road pass and travel by train about everywhere for pretty cheap for a month or so and see a lot of interesting things.
Traveling efficient and inexpensive and experiencing different people and different cultures is always a good thing...

Information helps with that. Because of the Google's in this world we have forums about buses.

To keep this on buses: The Google buses were not only for Google but all local tech companies and were operated in a catch me if you can style, disregarding traffic ordinances and parking. The city of San Francisco finally had to rein them in and regulate them because they wouldn't on their own. I think that most of these companies started out good but as they became more successful they self corrupted. It is just what happens. As Lord Acton said “power corrupts: absolute power corrupts absolutely”

joeblack5: You bring up a very good point about the Japanese internment camps, a very dark day in our national history. The efficiency of the round-up was aided by none other than IBM and the US Census Bureau. This action by the US Census Bureau was illegal at the time and still is. Yes they apologized but that does not make alright now. It was the US Census Bureau that developed the punch card idea for classifying citizens and aliens in the first place and IBM implemented the technology for it. This same technology was transferred to Nazi Germany and used to help the Nazi government to round up Jews, Roma and other undesirable groups. So my point is this: No matter who obtains our personal data big tech and the Government cannot be trusted.

If you would have added capitalism to your list of communism, socialism etc and focused on large corp / government then i would have likely not even reacted.


Every system has it pro's and cons, we will see which system can handle the world population and have people live in relative harmony with shared resources and how to define that harmony.

joeblack5; If you look closely we have never had a "true" communist, socialist or capitalist society yet. Most of them are really crony capitalist systems. Even China is a crony capitalist society. As was the USSR and the Nazi's and us. If you are connected you are covered. If not you are screwed. Corruption is the main reason mankind is in such poor shape. Survival of the fittest? I hope not.

In any case, let's not think having a School Bus is going to make it any different than if you lived in an apartment or bought a house. You still have to buy gas and food, pay taxes, show id's. use public highways, have insurance. The "slab city" people buy their beer with Social Security, there is no escape. Some used to think living in a boat on the ocean you can escape, but hell no, every port requires you register arrival and departure, it is more highly regulated than anything.

Funny how the 10 richest people spent their money politically, and people think anybody in this current administration is going to make them pay their fair share. Americans voted for this they deserve it I hope I am wrong about the harvest we are about to reap. I was on parler for years, it was gone in a day.

ISAF2009 you may be right. It may be a good idea to have a home on wheels so you can quickly move somewhere else and work in a solar panel factory. Then when it goes kaput move to the next green job that pays a lot better than your previous dirty carbon emitting job. Looks like we may see nirvana yet. I'm so looking forward to the future.

ISAF2009' I thought it was interesting, but the few online images I saw of guardsmen carrying their battle rifles supposedly in DC they did not have a magazine in them. I don't know if these were stock photos or this was how the opps were. To keep this on buses I think that would be a nice rifle for the bus.
