Washington State Skoolies:

Hey Everyone,

Like a number of folks here, I really wanted to make it to Skoolie-Palooza down in AZ. Unfortunately, like a number of others, I am not going to be able to get away.

Given that we have not seen the North side of freezing in a few days and don't expect to for a few more I was REALLY looking forward to being warm......

Given that there is no way to engineer the warmth that our friends will enjoy down in AZ maybe we could at least have some kind of meet up to share knowledge, stories and resources?

Any interest in a get together? If so, I would be happy to give a hand putting it together.

What do you all think?

NW Skoolie Rendezvous??

I'll start looking at potential sites.

I lean towards spots in Snoqualmie-Baker National Forest because I am more familiar with that area.

I see looking at the State Parks maps that there are quite a number of campgrounds that would support an event like this South of Tacoma and down towards Olympia.

Another though is out in the Sequim area due to the better than average weather.

What do you all think?

Yes! The nicer the weather gets, the more into this idea I am. I currently prioritize working on the bus over taking trips//taking Sat/Sun off takes some work for me. But hopefully by the time the weather gets warm the bus will be more ready for some trips and critique from our fellow skoolies.

Also I have cheap beer/food connections if anyone wants to put in orders.

What do you all think about general location?

Sequim has it's attractions given the local climate but is a bit of a trek for some.

Other than that, there are plenty of spots along the I-5 corridor.

The Olympic National Forest is at the top of my "bus trip list" for awhile now. So Sequim sounds great to me! But I don't think I will be ready any sooner than May. Probably.

Hey Taolik,

Don't make me look bad. My bust wont be finished. I will likely have an ice chest and a blow up mattress....

I was eyeballing dates in April-May.

Also, take a look at this place: Campground

Looks like it has potential.

Any other thoughts regarding dates & locations?

My first Bus Rally was down in the Portland area and I went as described above. I had raised the roof, insulated, installed a one piece door and blew up the air mattress....

I proceeded to learn a boatload about what to do and what not to do. It was an awesome event.

If I read correctly that you have a raised roof I have no doubt that you'll be the one showing me up. Regardless, it would be great to have some deadlines to put some more hustle in my bustle.

Regarding the site: I have no doubts your site is great. I don't know the area and if there are schoolbus's there the scenery will be just what I want. Also it's close to water, I like that!

I'm not sure what kind of duration we have in mind, but I think 2 day/1night would be where I stand for my ideal, I'd like to have a day or two to explore the surrounding area. If we have a minimum, I could do 2 nights though.

Roof raise was on my last bus. The one that I will be bringing still has the seats in it at the moment.

As far as the duration of the event, I was hoping to make enough time that I could be there from Thursday until Tuesday and make the attendance as flexible as the venue allows. Day use, one night or five nights. Whatever suites each attendee.

I think that site would be great if other folks are ok with the location. Water view, close services & shopping and lots to see and do in the area.

well, the suggested campground is fine geographically for us, but their restrictions on fire is a deal killer...one of our schoolies carries 2 propane poofers for our burning man adventures...shoots fireballs 30' into the sky...can't have a nw schoolie gathering without fire.

I'm gonna push for May due to the later sunsets and warmer climate. April's not bad though. Thursday to Tuesday is a great time frame, I can stop by for a night, explore a bit, and potentially return another night (if openings permit). If you set the dates I'll put in some good effort into making a presence. Camp fire restrictions are a bummer for sure.

Stone21 do you have any pictures of your poofers? The idea seems so absurd I'm having trouble believing you.
