Basic Info
Precise history unclear, but the S-chassis is from '66, type 1653. Very likely started off as a truck or flatbed, hauling supplies, parts, munitions for tracked fighting vehicles somewhere in Utah. Probably for the '60 era M44 mobile artillery. Stickers and metal ID plates strongly hint at this. It probably had the DV 550 + a manual trans as hinted by the crudely bolted on trans and aft engine cover plates. likely after the M44 retired from service the chassis was converted to the current schoolbus body somewhere late '70 or early '80ts and swapped out the engine & tranny for the 9.0L + AT545. It probably continued being used for military purposes, since there's no folding STOP sign as being used on school buses.
later sold as ex military surplus, and imported to Holland in 1998, occasionally being used as a 'wedding bus'. Sold in 2015 to another bus company, and in 2017 purchased by me.
