AGM Batteries Inside?

What about AGM batteries inside? Anyone doing it?

I also thought that I could hole saw some ventilation in the floor and built a sealed compartment on top.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Pretty sure AGM batteries can be inside, yeah.

Mine are inside, no problems. They don't burp out sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfide the way a traditional FLA cell does.

AGMs will vent hydrogen sulfide gas if overcharged. Hydrogen gas rises so the vent should be out the top of the enclosure.

If we go AGM that's our plan. Was planning on a DIY LFP build w/ CALB cells but due to recent events in China I'm concerned there may be issues sourcing them in the near future.

Whether we do or not the battery box will be vented to allow for flexibility in battery choice later. Some folks say not necessary to vent AGM but IMO since they CAN release h2 it's a redundant level of safety, plus if we ever need to run flooded later we'll be all set. Battery box will double as 'center console', so will be centrally located for even weight distribution & venting through the firewall will be easy.
