Alarm question

I tried searching couldn't find the same question, I'm replacing my batteries, but every time I attach the bottom wire to the terminal what sounds like the constant noise of the back up beep starts and won't stop while that error is attached. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help, I can take video of it, just want sure I wanted to leave it attached to do that in case I've managed to do something dumb.

Think about you say and ask...from the readers perspective not the writers...

Are we talking about a tractor trailer, rv, airplane?

It would be really helpful, and courteous, if you let everyone know what year, make and model your bus is, engine and trans type too, otherwise you night not get an answer!

If like the International I have then the white should go to the neg(-) terminal. The red wire tucked down to the left should go to the pos(+) terminal.
