Question Automatic Transfer Switch Advice

Hello everyone,

I am writing to ask for advice/experience with automatic transfer switches. My electrical looks very much like the schematic on this page (https://www.skooliesupply.com/solar-...r-system-works)

However, I am a little unsure of how the smart battery charger is wired to the automatic transfer switch. I cannot locate an automatic transfer switch that is designed with a designated connection for the smart battery charger. I *think* that I can just connect the smart battery charger to the same side of the automatic transfer switch (same lugs) as the shore power/generator connects. That should only deliver power to the smart battery charger when I am on shore power and when the automatic transfer switch changes to battery power the smart battery charger will become isolated, no longer have power, and I will avoid having a loop where the battery bank is trying to charge itself.

I'm new to this and wanted to check with some folks who know more than me about how this should work.

Thanks,

J
