Broken neutral safety switch

This is out of my TC 2000 545, 5.9. It did not fail on me, I was reinstalling it with new wiring. I tried to ring it out to connect it and it was wonky. As it was removed, noticed the silicone and the cheesy wiring also. Then, found the broken plunger.

interesting because the 545 has a built-in neutral safety switch, you shouldnt need an external one unless it also has some other function..

This one is located in the shifter mechanism. It is also the back up lite switch. Was a royal PITA to remove. My year TC2000, 1991 , had the shift originally on the left hand side. When I built my instrument panel, it was moved to the right hand side so there was some slack in the cable.
Good thing!

That part is available from Bluebird and a bus parts guy in Louisiana. Mine broke so I just bypassed it. Installed a switch for the back up lights and just make sure I am in neutral and brakes set before I start.

I would not have a problem with that as I am pulling sensor wires and oil cooler fan power but, it is the back up lite switch also. Not looking to fake this, the part is out there so will just buy it.
