charger/converter wiring help

Quick question for the electrical gurus.....

I have a PD inteli power 9200 series converter/smart charger. I am ready to wire it up and just wanted some confirmation on the wiring diagram.

The instruction manual shows the charger positive going to the 12v dc distribution panel first (i'm using a small blue sea panel) and then onto the battery. The negative goes straight to the battery. I guess that makes sense since the inteli power is also a converter. What do you guys think?
I'd almost be a bit more apt to just wiring the charger to the battery and let the batteries act as a filter to the blue sea box. Any suggestions? I'm probably over thinking this whole thing and should just follow the instruction manual. Thanks for the help.
