Correct Battery for a TC2000

I want to replace the 3 new 27D batteries in the TC with a single battery if it will work.

Don't know if it's the correct answer but I would?
Try one 8d group 31.
What motor is in it?
That would help more than a TC 2000?

One of those is the same cost as the 3 I have in there, would defeat the purpose.
Cummins 5.9

FWIW: I have two group 27's on my 5.9 and it has served me well. Cold weather starts in the teens without a block heater no problem.

Cummins 5.9
I pulled 2 of the batteries and it starts just fine on one. While removing the batteries that are brand new, dated 3/19, one of the nuts seized on the end of the stud, ended up twisting the bolt out of the terminal. Off to Wally World to get an adapter. Where do we source premade battery connector lines like these?

cold cranking amps

You probably had two 900cca batteries, you will want to put that same amount of cca back in, in the summer you may not have a problem but when it is cool or cold outside you will see a problem, there is a reason why all diesel engines have 2 big batteries, you are not just spinning the engine you are also heating the glow plugs.

You probably didn't read what batteries I had and are just guessing. The 3 batteries in the box were not exclusive to starting the engine, this bus had a solar system and the batteries were added for that. The batteries are 750CCA and I doubt the 5.9 needs 2250 amps to start it. My 99 Genesis/DT466 from Spokane, Wa. has only one battery.

I bought one of these Wally World batteries when I first got my bus. All (2) batteries in the bus were dead (seems like the isolator - I disconnected it). They were the big ones. That got it running fine until the temp dropped below maybe 55°F. Then it would spin, but not fire. At that temp the voltage drops too low when the starter spins the motor (due to cold oil creating more viscosity, and thus more energy needed to spin the engine) for the computer to function correctly.

It's a similar problem for vehicles (gas powered, included) with a weak cell in their battery. It will charge, show 12.5-13.5 volts, but then that cell drops out when cranking and volts drop to 8-10. The other two cells will dump enough amps to spin the motor.

So I bought a second one, and I have had no problems starting it this winter, but always above freezing!

The "secondary" giant battery is meant for the wheelchair lift, and is tied in via the isolator. The isolator was not isolating, and apparently not feeding enough amps to the wheelchair lift battery either. My new ones were draining overnight until I disconnected the wheelchair one altogether. Looking at it, the plastic case is swollen around the + terminal, so it might have been shorted hard at one time, and melted the interior.
I would love to have just two batteries and an isolator, as original, but they are more $$$...

P.S. I have been told several times, the years of our Cummins motors don't have glow plugs. But I haven't dug into that myself, yet...

Because the 3 batteries were brand new I figured I'd keep them with the solar system that came out of it. The bus starts fine on one and I will let the buyer know he needs more batteries for cold weather. I'll be up front on what it has and what it needs that I know of to any buyer. I stopped by Wally to pick up the terminal and checked their other 27D batteries. They had 6 on the shelf, all with 3/19 dates. As soon as this bus sells I'll buy a couple more.

Cca

I saw your 3 batteries, I know many run with one battery, you may never regret running with one but even new diesel pickups run with two.
Diesel engines need draw more power to turn the engine over har gas engines, they need even more power to warm the glow plugs, an old or poorly charged battery is why 2 batteries are standard.

i run a pair of group 31's for starting. i have a third grp 31 for a generator starting battery and a 4 battery house bank of group 29's. - 7 total

there is no glow plug or heater grid on my cummins 5.9. something however draws about 10a before you engage the starter. the starter can draw a bunch, if you have to crank it for 30 seconds or longer the starter can really glow.
a cold morning will test your choices.

Again now, I AM SELLING THIS BUS. I only need a battery to start it and get it out of my yard. The new owner will be advised to get more batteries.

Planning something similar to yours, haven't figured out power to the genset yet, for the keeper. The one battery in the sale bus fires it within 2 seconds.
