DC Generator?

Is there a practical use of the generator in the link below? I found one for $500 used on craigslist. Is there a good way to build around 48v DC?

It's probably a nice unit, but 48v isn't the easiest thing to work with. It's intended to be used with telecom infrastructure where neg48 is common. You can get inverters (at a premium) and you can get DC regulators (at a premium, cheap stuff usually tops out around 40v)... For less money you can get a higher output unit brand new: https://amzn.to/2LGQQFt

I wondered if it had some specific use, especially with that output plug. The one problem I have with the gen you linked is the noise.

As with everything you can always spend more to get more (or less, in the case of volume). Inverter generators are quieter and more efficient but can cost more than double for the same output levels. A 3500 watt Inverter generator is $700 at Harbor Freight., and you can always use a "quiet box" to knock the volume down on any unit you buy.

That is more like it

What my current plan is, is to set the bus up to run off shore power with Air Conditioning. But have the ability to plug in a generator, and deal with the cost of a generator later.

I would like to add that I am surprised of the lack of used inverter generators out there on CL and Facebook. I have made a living through the years buying most things used, but am not having any luck with these.
