Disconnected wires to front mirrors

Hi all.
I have a 1999 Bluebird AA FE bus. When I bought it, the conversion had already been started, so there’s still some things I’m figuring out, like why certain things were done.
I noticed the wires going to the front mirrors (on side of bus that allow driver to see adjacent lanes) have been cut.
It is my understanding that those are for heated mirrors.
If so, why would those be cut? Isn’t that a nice thing to have in a Skoolie?
I’m not sure if I should go ahead and rip the wires out, or if I want heated mirrors, how to make sure they’re connected properly?
Thoughts?

Yes, they're for heated mirrors.

Why were they cut? That's a good question. Apparently there's something about converting a bus that makes people just start hacking away at wiring without having any clue what they're doing or why they're doing it.

I believe it to be a form of mass hysteria.

On the other hand, someone could have picked them up at a salvage yard with the intention of hooking them up. Is there matching wires or a hole in the side of the bus?
My Bluebird has a delay off timer tucked into the top right of the outside electrical access panel. It's labeled "wiper delay" on the door along with a wiring diagram

They were cut at the mirrors on both sides. it appears they were part of the orig wiring, and cut when the conversion started.
The wires going back to the electrical access panel are intact as far as I can see.
Seems it was done on purpose, but I can’t fathom why.

does it even matter why the previous owner cut them? If you want that function,,, just fix it. If you don't. disconnect the remaining wiring at the fuse panel. pretty straight forward.

I have heated mirrors on 2 of my busses and i use them all the time.. most people thinl of using them just for frosty cold mornings.. however they are very useful when you are in fog or light-rain mist where the mirros tend to fog up or get really small water droplets on them.. the heat will keep them much clearer..

Great points. Think I might just go ahead and reconnect them.

Maybe they had a cousin help and he/she/it cut them to pull the mirrors to do a paint job? Or the original mirrors got broken and they installed newer ones to get-er-sold. Or they really liked the original ones and keep them to give you the s**t ones!

it sounds like they cut the wires at the mirrors so the heated mirrors are still there but the wires were pulled out..

seems people are Rip-Out happy in Skoolie-Land

If you have access to both cut ends, or know the correct connection point, I'd try a temporary jump wire/connector to see if the mirror heaters work. Maybe there was a legitimate reason for the disconnection. Be a shame to properly route the wires just to blow a fuse.
