Generator on Front Bumper

I have a 2007 Thomas Minotour on a Chevy Express platform.

Originally I was not going to put a generator on the bus. I still hate hate hate generators for the noise they make, but a few days in 100 degrees softened me up. So I’m thinking about the mini split. Thing is, I don’t really have a place for a generator.

One thing that came to mind was getting one of those heavy duty diamond plate front bumpers and modifying it to add a tray for a generator.

Any thoughts you have are appreciated.

I've seen a few Sprinter vans as expedited trucks with front bumper mounted generators on racks like you suggest. A word of caution, carbon monoxide poisoning is a possibility unless it is propane or CNG powered. You might also consider an exhaust extension similar to what was suggested in this thread....

I'm not sure I would want a fuel tank with an ignition source mounted on / in a bumper, however.

/\... X2 on the front mount hazard!

Why not use a smaller, (2200W.) portable type that can be used as far away as you have extension cord for?
The Honda and Yamaha gens nowadays as well as others, are extremely reliable, fairly quiet and fuel efficient...

True enough, sadly.

While in use, and assuming the user(s) are inside the bus, a thief wouldn't get too far after cutting power I would think.

When not using gen it could easily be stowed inside, or chained to a rear cargo rack or something...

I wish I could find something that would fit below deck. I saw a food truck recently that had a generator in a slide out drawer

The Honda 2200W generator might fit under deck. I’d be happy with that, even if it’s just the storage spot. I can always run an extension cord.
