golf cart charger for battery bank?

Strange idea, but I was wondering if it would be possible to charge the house batteries with a golf cart charger, 6 deep cell batteries? Seems like it would be a lot more work than necessary, but would it work?

Re: golf cart charger for battery bank?

A charger is a charger. It just depends on operating voltage. I'm not sure what voltage golf carts run on, but I would venture to say it is greater than the 12 vols we typically use.

Re: golf cart charger for battery bank?

as far as elec. golf cart go they run most generally on 36 or 48 volts, this is acomplished with 6 or 8 deep cell 6 volt batteries hooked up in series.

Sure seems like overkill to me, considering theyre all 6-8? 6 volt batteries. I'd rather stick with the traditional route of 2 or 3 probably. Does anybody have 4 or more house batteries in their skoolies? Is there an advantage?
