Hour Meter Yes/No

There are 2 remote start panels available for my GenSet4000. One is a start/stop switch only, the other has an hour meter. There is a $70 difference. Is the hour meter really worth $70 to have? I imagine an aftermarket HM would be easy to adapt.

Aftermarket hour meters are pretty simple to connect.

Wire one of these:

To the 110v output of your generator.

I am going to add one to my new generator. My Honda does not have one and I am guessing at maintenance intervals.

I think I'd save $$ and refit an el cheapo hour meter. Up to you if your time is worth the $70 difference.

I see inexpensive meters that have one wire that wraps around the sparkplug wire. The cheap remote panel has only 4 connections, I assume the 5th wire in the harness is for the HM, so wiring it would definitely be worth saving the $70
