install soft start or wait

hey folks,

i got a new rooftop ac to replace an existing one. it runs off of my shore panel connection or my generator.

i have half a big lifepo battery. next year, i plan on getting another battery and inverter and run the ac for an hour or 2 from battery setup.

i got the roof top ac and a softstart unit to help with the future battery use.

so my question is..... should i install the soft start now even though i dont need it? or wait until i get the inverter setup?

i guess the softstart is some type of capacitor help to get the motor running....will i wear it out using it before i need it?

Summer is going to be over soon, and it's cooler at night now in most of the US. I'd probably wait to install it to how you're gonna have it finalized.

id install it and grab some numbers on how well it works.. you can gather data now on your power usage at run and at startup. your softstart if its quality shouldnt wear out.. its electronics... I believe they vary the frequency and also phase shift..
