Instrument Panel decides to work randomly

Hi all! Our instrument panel generally doesn't work. We thought we were going to need to do some soldering or buy a new one. But the last time we took the bus out, it did not work any for the 40 minute drive to our camp, but it did started working 15 minutes into our drive home. How do wires wiggle themselves together to miraculously decide to work? LOL. Let me know what extra info y'all need to help. TIA!!

This is a common problem. You can google how to fix it with a soldering iron, but I dealt with it by buying a Bluefire, which is a gadget that plugs into your bus' data port and communicates with a tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth. You can set up a digital dashboard which shows you everything (or most things - not necessarily the fuel gauge, for example) that you get on your physical dash plus a lot more (like your engine's true mileage and other temperature gauges besides just the coolant temp). I found out from my Bluefire that my dashboard transmission temperature gauge had never worked at all (not good).

If you buy the Bluefire direct from the company's website, use the promo code "AMAZON" for 15% off (I think that still works, anyway).

I re soldered my panel and installed digital dash.. covers me on all bases... resoldering the connectors isnt hard.. (if you have air system do flatten the tank before you disconnect the air gauge)..

Thank you! I have been reading all of your other posts since 2016. Such good info! I just search for J1708 now. I didn't know that is what I needed to search for when I posted the new thread! Your digital set up is epic!
