Just picked up these batteries

Hey all, Ive seen a lot of posts about buying used batteries, however I decided to pull the trigger on these - 8 Fullriver DC400-6 group L16 (6 volt 415 amp hours.) They came from an equipment company who pulled them out of a boom lift with 200 hours on them. I picked up all 8 for $400. They were listed as working and good working condition, and stated they pulled them because they switched battery type for longer use. They are around 2 year old batteries and the warranty on them is for 7 years, so if they had issues with them, they would have replaced them, I'm assuming.

While I know it is a crap shoot, I'm flying out to PA and renting a vehicle to drive them back home. Flight is $49 one to Philly, rental is $145 and fuel maybe $75. So total invested will be just under $700. One of these batteries new goes for around $600, so if they are good as stated, I'm getting a heck of a deal on the 8. I bought them on eBay, so if I get them home and they are junk and don't work right, I will file a claim to get my money back. Obviously I won't know how long they will last no matter what, but I'm going to take the chance.

Anyone using this type of battery or similar for their solar setup?

Either you're getting the deal of the century, or you're getting burned.

Too much of a gamble IMO, but good luck if you actually pull the trigger on em...

Might pay off if the seller is straight with you and they got put on a decent charger adjusted properly each night.

If so see if you can buy the charger too, especially if amps output is above .2C and adjustable voltage.

But even then, they may have passed the halfway point to EoL @80% EoL.

If possible get a precisely timed CC load test done at .05C discharge rate.

And a good DMM / BM / ammeter to give them good care get as long as you can.
