Led brake lights

I replaced the old bulb lutes with new led turn signal, running, and brake lites.the brake lights work with lite switched off.when switch is on, brake lites and running lites are on bright but do not change when braking.wired these like the old ones.any ideas on why this happening?

If I had to venture a guess since an LED is a diode, it's either on or off. You'll likely need brightness adjusting LED's for the rear taillights since they are wired to the same line most likely. Some have separate lines and need multiple LED's one for braking, one for always on. If yours is a setup where it just increased the voltage when you braked over the same line, this may be why you aren't seeing a change.

This is the typical response below:
You want your parking light to be dimmer than your brake lights, so to fix this problem with your led tail lights, what you could do is use a voltage regulator. Supply the power separately to the brake and parking lights. Separate from your always on line. Lower the voltage to your always on lights to 9 volts.

Hope this helps a little.

there are different LED replacement bulbs sold.. a buddy of mine and I found that some unfortunately did a terrible job of dim and bright.. where the bright function was almost indifferent than the dim.. it took buying higher quality bulbs to get a good differential.. like CREE ..

if you swapped the whole 7 inch and 4 inch fixtures out for LED.. then typically the black wire is low (dim) and the red wire is High (bright).. and ground is achieve through the caseing of the fixture and screws into the bus body..

Yup, which is typically two lines. But as you said some LED's are On or OFF, not any brighter or dimmer, digital per se. Not analogue like incandescent bulbs which brighten and dim based on voltage received. Dimmer LED's are designed with multiple diodes, or designed with better more costly diodes that can operate a different voltages to present the dimming effect but even those aren't analogue, they are just designed with basically multiple diodes that determine which diode to switch to based on the voltage supplied.

Cadillackid and Nikitis are spot on:the LED lites have basically one mode so I purchased a pair of 36led lites fir braking only and the top (17led lite)7inch lites and bottom 4inch lites are wired for running.that way I have the best of both worlds.

Compromise

I reached a compromise.I bought 36 led red lites fir braking only and kept the 17 led lites on top for running along with the marker lites and 2 4inch led lites so I have plenty of lites and those super bright brake lites will stand out .looking like a giant Christmas tree at night😜
