LEDs in speaker holes
I think it would look pretty clean to have lights where the speakers were, and there is already 16 gauge wire running to them.
Does anyone know where I might find some LEDs to fit roughly in these holes?
They are 4 and a half inches wide.

I bought my LED lighting from superbrightleds.com. Mine are only 2 inches, but they do have 4 inch can-lighting in LED:

I can't be sure without seeing it, but your hole might be too big for a 4" fixture. The fixtures I'm seeing have a cutout size of 4.25". You can cut it to size for a 6" fixture most likely.

Has anyone tried this, I want to do the same. The speakers suck, and could use some dimmable LEDs, that would be cool.

check out the wiring.. some of these speakers are series-parallel.. meaning they connect a couple speakers in series and use a common ground..

I bet your right another reason they sound bad. I can easily snake dc or even ac wires from hole to hole, I'm going find LEDs that will fit. Something very low profile.

Bought a case of these. They require a 3"-3.5" hole to mount flush. Frosted glass lens.

they sound terrible because they are crappy speakers.. and the head units with PA are typically crappy units.. I replaced my speakers and my head unit then added a sub and amp in my Bluebird.. the system rocks now but when i got the bus i think my iphone laying on the dash sounded better!
if the holes arent quite the right side for your LED's, there are plastic eschiutheon circles made for adpating can lights in houses from one size to another so if your lights are too small you can get a plate and adapt the size down. some of them are decorative others just flat metal / plastic.

Most of the larger (5-6") LED fixtures I've dealt with had a small, plug in, 'power supply' with each one. I checked one out the other day and they're 24 VDC.

My image link disappeared. Probably for the best. There was some irony involved in posting it
