May be a stupid question but
Would have a large battery bank cover your power usage when you have roof panels that are less than what you need if you only use more than you make occassionally? For example, you have a washer that eats power but you do a load or two a week and the rest of the time you have your fridge, basic pulling power only. If you make enough solar to cover basics plus some to recharge, would having the extra batteries do the trick? Also, can you charge the batteries from shore power if you are low and camping out?
