Relocation dash cluster - International 3800

Has anyone relocated their dash cluster on the 3800 so it's not down so low? I ripped apart the dash on mine this morning to try a few locations. There is enough slack on the connectors (wire and air lines) to move it around, but the main structure under the windshield gets in the way, and I don't want to hack into that.

I ended up putting everything back where it was, but I've never liked having the cluster so low in the dash. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

You can mount a tablet up a little higher with a Bluefire adapter. I've seen some other videos on youtube but they basically ripped out all the metal in the dash and re-built custom to mount where they wanted.

Thanks, I will look into Bluefire, that looks like a cool solution.

the down load aspect of the 3800 cluster is a royal PITA.. if you look at how freightliner and GMC did it on the bluebirds.. it really looks like they did just that slapped the cluster up high right on the defroster duct..

I went the route of tablet displays(im sure youve seen them a bunch here already).. I mounted the tablets to the bottom sheetmetal of the defrost duct.. they are up high and dont stick up too much into my windshield field of view..

I've done exactly that on a couple of 3800s, both because of the low positioning and because several of the gauges weren't working. I replaced the speedometer with a GPS unit and installed new gauges from Summit Racing. Here's the panel, cut and bent and painted:

Ross you might have a market for that gauge panel.
