I took off my old side turn signals and want to replace with new LED lights. The old light had only one wire and the new one has three. According to the Amazon listing, red is for tail lights, black is ground and white is turn. So can I connect the white to the old wire and connect the blank to to sheet metal?

Novice here on 12v so really appreciate any guidance

Bus is Celestina, 1999 Thomas Saf-T-Liner MVP 40’ FE with Cummins ISB Diesel CM 500 250 HP and Allison MT643 transmission.

Connect white to the single wire, and black to the body somewhere. I put a screw in the sheet metal in the hole and attached the ground to it. Levine auto sells the one wire bus parts. I got one wire marker lights, $14 including shipping. https://autoandtrucklighting.com/?gc...RoCsB4QAvD_BwE

Wrong way around. Black to running lights, red to stop/turn (as appropriate), white to ground/body.

The other way will work with incandescent lights but it'll still be "backwards". Not so much with LED's.

With a side mounted turn signal, you may be able skip the black wire to running lights.

on my bus i found that only a portion of my new tiurn signal lights up for the signal and a portion lights up for running.. since my bus only has 1 wire like the OP... I connected the running light and signal light wires together to the 1 wire from the bus.. and then connected the ground to the body through a ring terminal into a mounting screw hole... I cleaned up the area around the hole to make for a good connection and used new screws..

now the whole lamp flashes with my turn signal.. if yours is just bright and dim you may not need to do that..

Got them working!

Got both the front and side amber turn signals working. Found a short in some wires in the big wad of wiring harness so reconnected that to get power to the side turn signals. Connected the white wires to the original and them screwed black wire to metal sides.

So note to file: best to replace lights before insulating and covering the side walls inside. It was tough to stuff the wire back through the hole when it was backed by rigid foam. Used a screwdriver to compress the foam enough for the wires to go back in.

Thanks for your help.

For my Thomas bus, yellow wire was left and green wire was right.
