RV Power center vs. House Breaker box & separate 12 volt box/ charger/ etc.

So, before I really dig into my rebuild (i have the ceiling half done, AC installed (not wired), etc.) I'm trying to make sure i'm moving forward "wisely."

Obviously, I can install an RV power center (like a WFCO or the like) that would combine my 12 volt and 110 AND battery charger into one box. But, i'm reading things about those not being the best/ most efficient chargers, etc. I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are. I don't need to have everything "the best" in my skoolie conversion (we will mostly camp and not do a TON of boondocking)... but I also don't want to have to "redo" anything because of lack of quality.

SO, i'm wondering what people have done and why they chose to go the route they went. Did you "piece" your power system together or buy an "all in one" power center.

I went with one of the Progressive Dynamics power panels and am quite happy with it. I have all my fuses and breakers in one small package along with a three stage charger.

From what I read the PD charger was one of the better ones when I bought it 5 years ago.

I am looking at using the Progressive Dynamics 4000 series just to simplify and keep things in one easy to access package.

I suspect these decisions often come down to how much your know about electricity, how much you want to learn, and how much you want to customize. I see nothing wrong with one of the power centers as long as it meets your needs.

I built my own "system" and it is fairly large and complex (details here) but I like electronics and put 1.7kW of solar and 10kWh of lithium batteries in as well. The goal being loads of boondocking.

IMO, the best approach is to define your mission/goal and then settle on a system that meets that goal.
