Shore Power Connection

Other than losing 8' of cord usage, is there any other negative to having it on the pass. side? It will be a lot more work wiring it on that side and I'm willing to sacrifice the 8' if there are no other concerns.

Large number of parks are set up so that the utility connections are on the drivers side, and some can be a bit hard to get into backwards.

Most places that are not dedicated RV camps/parks have options for both sides, so may not be a universal thing even among RV's.

Over the last 3 months we have been in about 10 parks. All are to the back or on the driver's side. As long as your gauge is thick enough and the cord is long enough, I don't see a problem.

We've got a 30 amp shore power connection on ours but we normally don't pull anywhere near that much current (we don't have air conditioning). I do carry a shortish 30 amp cord but since we're not drawing much I usually plug in with a long standard extension cord and a cobbled up 30 amp to 15 amp converter.

All of my electric is on the right side adjacent to the entry door. This includes the genny, house batteries, inverter, converter and shore power hookup. All the controls are in the entry and with everything in one location all the connections are short which nearly eliminates line loss.

Like 01mark pointed out I do loose 8' of line when the power post is on the left of the bus but having the line right next to the entry door has saved me from driving off with the electric still hooked to the pole.
Jack

Shore power plugs in under the "gas" door next to the heater exhaust vent. The house batteries are on a slide out tray as is the genny.

Oooooh, any more pics or details of the slide out tray? I'd desperately like to make this upgrade, as my batteries are a pain to access for monthly maintenance.

Our power cord stores and is connected to the bus inside the rear E door. I park to favor the view and Mary's preference. With the door closed the cable exits the lower DS corner of the door. Rarely hook up water or sewer.

Well I couldn't find a convenient place to mount it, everywhere that worked could be done on the other side as well.So I said screw it and just mounted it aft of the left side wheel flap.
