Solar Combiner Box Keeps Tripping

Hello,

I have 4, 100 watt solar panels connected to a combiner box. In the middle of the day the breaker in it with trip. We disconnect one solar panel and that keeps it from tripping but then our batteries drain way faster. Not sure how to go about fixing this issue. Any advice or solutions are welcome.

It sounds like the output of your solar array is exceeding the charge controller's capacity at peak solar input.

1. Find the solar panel labels and check to see what each panel's maximum voltage and amps are;
2. Confirm whether the panels are wired in parallel, series, or a combination. Google this to understand, if you are not familiar with the terms;
3. Find the charge controller's specification label and get its maximum input current and voltage specs.
4. Let us know what you find.
