Speedometer not working, can’t find sensor

The speedometer stopped reading and a cel for it popped up not too long after. I can’t find the sensor anywhere. Not on the back end of the trans. Not in the rear diff. Any clue where the bus is getting a reading from?

I have a 99 Thomas built with a Cummins 5.9 and mt643.

i think you have two possibilities. both are on the transmission. probably near the rear of the transmission.

1) a cable that drives a mechanical speedometer.

2) an electrical device that puts out a signal to an electric speedometer.

I dont have this kind of transmission, I have not seen this for certain, nor have I looked.

Yea. I see where it normally is on the back side of the trans. But the only sensors in mine are the trans temp sensors and the neutral safety switch.
