Smile Swap from manual to automatic transfer switch

We have a manual transfer switch for our 17kw generator (it was a blood mobile in its prior life). The transfer switch is old and I want to replace it. I would like to look into replacing it with an automatic transfer switch. The shore power is 50 amp. Any recommendations or advice (besides have an electrician install - which I will have)?

Thanks!

I have one with surge protection and one without (electrical design here if wondering why two). Both have served me well for two years.

I would install over current protection at the generator sized to protect the wire between the generator and the transfer switch.

JDOnTheGo:

I ended up going with the WFCO that you recommended. It works perfectly! Thank you very much for your help.
