I built a "G" scale turntable out of one of these. They are very robust to say the least. It was weatherised with a Tupperware bowl and grommets for the turntable shaft and the handcrank.

This "Lazy Susan" is the key to the whole process. Do you have any ideas on that? I ordered an 8" seat base to play with. If I tilt the panel and keep the weight centered I think it will be worth a shot. It's rated for 400#

Heck, the worst that could happen... Don't know how weather proof that is but shoot why not? Another idea a disc brake rotor and bearings off a kia or similar throw away car? A small tire rim with an axle welded to a flange*

I want to keep it as close to the roof as possible for, you know, drafting other busses on the straights.
