"The Child Reminder" removal

I have heard disconnecting these the wrong way can cause headaches for days.
Does anyone have experience removing these devices from a bus? I have found their installation guide as a pdf and am reading it over before I pull out my screwdrivers but would appreciate pointers.
Warning light system removal is on my list also.
