Troubleshooting solar system.

So my solar charging system has fallen down lately. Im not sure if its my charge controller or panels.

I bought some cheap (relatively) flexible panels and a charge controller in 2018.

SUAOKI 100W 18V 12V (X2)

EPEVER MPPT Charge Controller 30A Tracer3210AN + Remote Meter MT50 + RTS Temp Sensor 12V/24V

I suspect that my charge controller has gotten wet and and that is causing the trouble. The remote display shows that the panels put out up to 18V and it will occasionally show it charging about a half an amp.

Any input on how to test the system, or components?

Thanks, John

You can test the output of the panels before the charge controller. You’ll have to look up the open circuit voltage of your panels and do the math to get your voltage and theoretical wattage.

When you do this part disconnect the cables to the charge controller

If you’re in series I think one bad cell can bring down the whole thing.

Are your panels dirty?

Three questions:
  1. What kind of generation were you seeing before?
  2. How much has this fallen?
  3. When you say "lately", what kind of time period?
