Two positive cables going to terminal

I disconnected the old starter battery from my Thomas freightliner FS-65. In that process one of the positive cables broke off. I put in a new battery, and when I connect the broken positive to the battery, all the dash lights come on and the bus acts like I put the key in the run position.

I'm not very good at explaining things but I'll try. I removed the outer plastic jacket from this smaller positive cables, to discover one smaller cable leading into several smaller yellow cables that look like they're connected to inline fuse type things in the battery compartment.

Any ideas what's going on here? I had a pdf from Thomas on the wiring but I can't find it. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I've attached some pics. They battery tray doesn't slide out, I've got to repair it after I move var

I don't have a picture of the end of the second positive wire end that connects to the positive terminal, it was connected right where the other one is connected.

Does your bus have factory AC? Oftentimes they will wire the AC system on its seperate breaker panel and it feeds directly off the battery bank with a second positive cable.
