UPS question.

My question. Does a UPS clean up the power coming out? If it was plugged into an inverter that wasn't sine wave, would it come out sine wave?

It's an APC Smart-UPS 1000. How do I find out?

The one I have here says SU1000NET. Does that tell you anything?

So I found this. It says sine wave, but is that pure or modified?

So I can plug this in to generator or non-sine wave inverter and it will give me pure sine wave power for sensitive electronics?

I may have to look at my UPS that I have my desktop computer hooked up to. Never thought of using it like that!

My UPS won't run off the modified sine wave inverters. It's a Best Power Patriot II 750va. When I plug it into the inverter power it will set off the alarm and go into battery mode. However, you can get old UPS units for CHEAP (like FREE because it's usually more cost effective for people to replace them than the batteries inside them) and they make GREAT inverters on their own. Take the power leads from them and run them to your house batteries and disconnect the alarm. Maybe a person should solder in a resistor of equal value to the impedance of the speaker, but mine worked fine without it.

*edit* My point is that it might not clean up the input signal, but rather switch to battery power when it gets dirty input power. That is a far more cost effective unit to build than one that actually rectifies the input power and then generates a pure sine waveform from that power which is really the only effective way to clean it up.

So I should just use it as an inverter. I have at least 3 maybe 4 of them. So I will have pure sine wave inverters for cheap.

But what about the one I posted, that one is a sine-wave. I thought these were for computers and electronics. How do I try it?

Got it. I misunderstood. I think i will take it apart and connect it to the batteries directly.
