Using PWM charge controller to conver 24v to 12v

Hey guys, Ive got a 24v house bank and a 12v chassis bank. Can i keep the 12v batteries charged using a PWM charge controller by connecting the solar inputs on the charge controller to the 24v bank and the battery outputs of the controller to the 12v batts?
I only need about 10amps max of output and I already have the pwm controller. The panel it was hooked up to made 100 watts at about 20v so i figure this could work, right?

It may work! Doesn't really matter the input voltage to the house bank. I'd look up info on load control

The problem with PWM charge controllers setup as diversion load is it is meant to dissipate extra energy, no store, like via a heater element. The problem I think that would arise is how would the charge controller know when to stop.

Unless......

It would make sense that you could connect another battery/bank into your solar array + and - (instead of panels) on your charge controller and your 12v batteries as your charge output. Both voltage from an array and from a battery are DC, so the charge controller wouldn't know the diff. Just an idea. Just be sure to be Johnny on the spot with your jumper and potentiometer settings.

Let me know if you get something to work, I'd love to be able to charge my vehicle batteries from the 48v house batteries in a pinch.
