WC Lift Removal and Electricity

I want to remove the lift. The many removal threads focus upon respecting its impressive weight. Can do. Is there anything to make sure to do upfront so I don't short out anything and the bus still starts? E.g., good enough to simply disconnect the lift power at the lift; or also the positive at the battery; or nothing at all will still result in a happy ending? I have negligible experience with auto electrical. Post removal, I figure to follow the lift power wire back to whence it came and completely disconnect and there'll be nothing more to do. (That's a question actually.)

This should be the first thing you do. Should likely find a battery just for the lift but not always. Find the source and disconnect it before you do any removal.

I see you are wanting to rid yourself of the lift. Where are you located? Go to your UserCP and film out your profile.

The interlock..... is that related to the thing that buzzes and keeps the engine from starting unless the rear latch is in the open position?

Done on the location. Anyone want a lift? Nonfunctional for unknown reasons.

For the battery disconnecting job is it recommended to also disconnect one of the wires for the main battery too?

How often is the main battery disconnection happening? I had to work on a headlight yesterday to get it properly attached; would that have been the right time to disconnect the main battery?

Question for you before you go any further.

Have you tried to operate the wheelchair lift. Extend and retract it?

When it is extended and in a safe position with no power, have a look at what bolts there are for mounting the whole unit. It might be wise to take a good look at what you are up against before disconnecting the unit.

You can see if any switches will interfere with your ignition if you get into trouble later starting. Take both cables off and make sure they can't splash on any grounds while you work.

The headlight question you have. No, they do not really need to have the battery disconnected to repair. Just pull the connector off carefully. You may or may not have to change it also if it's corroded after being in service for years.
