What to look for in used solar system before buying?

Hi as I was browsing facebook today looking for used parts, someone local to me had just posted a used solar set up that they still have installed. I am interested in going to check it out but was curious in what to look for specifically. So figured I'd come here and ask. What are things I should look for and look at? what are specific questions I should ask before purchasing?
Thanks.

It is a 400w set up.

Battery age is a lot of it if they’re included, otherwise I would try to look at charge controller output in good sun. If the charge controller does not have a display I think you really need a dc ammeter and volt meter to figure out how good the output is.

Thanks I do not believe the batteries are included. 4 100w panels with brackets and what not, commander controller, and mt-50 battery monitor. What is a reasonable price for these used in working order? 1-2 years old.

So really you need to check the output if possible but it might be hard.

$400 seems reasonable not knowing what the parts are, but try to get the wires and associated hardware too.

Used panels can be had for 25 cents per watt at times, ranging to maybe $1.00 per watt, depending on manufacturer, and used electronics I usually won’t pay more than 50% of new.

If the stuff suits you perfectly it seems like a good deal, but if you have to replace components then it’s mediocre deal in my opinion... that all said it’s just my silly opinion .

Renogy commander 40a controller, Renogy MT-50 battery Monitor, 4 100 watt panels no issues at all with them. Is still installed and working properly. Current owner will remove them after I see it running.
