Those won't get you as far as you think.

I recommend getting the biggest bang for the buck used lead acid you can. Deep cycle does NOT matter.

I use a 2,200 lb lead acid battery from a scrapped electric forklift. Mounted above back wheel wells with air bags for support. This is overkill but so luxurious. I spent $300 (and sweat and tears).

You can go lower than that but I'd recommend aiming for 500 pounds for under $300.

I'm as willing to give lead a good home as anyone. But I expect something in return. I don't want to move a bunch of lead in just to have it sitting around on its fat arse doing 10% of the work lead with a better work ethic would perform. Lead so out of shape that if you ask it to work overtime on occasion you risk a workplace fatality. Lead so obese that when it does suffer a predictably premature death, you have to knock a hole through the wall of the living room and lift it out with a crane.

There are constraints for why things like that won稚 work for me. Specifically, space available is limited to 32x22x13 and the storage location is inside so a sealed solution is required. No, I知 not going to open a hole in the wall to vent them.

That would be highly ironic. But I'm working on that

Well, to get the thread back on track...

I don't understand why there's a poll to begin with. It's not a popularity contest. Either the batteries you choose fit your design parameters or they don't. Get the AGMs if weight isn't a factor and they meet your amp-hour requirements. Get the Lithiums otherwise.

By the way, your bus is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Thanks. Not sure what bus you are referring to, my profile pic or the one I知 building. The profile pic is the muse for my bus and will end up looking like that. My bus build is details at the poll.

The reason for the pole is an aid to my decision. Basically, weight vs cost. As for longevity, both will last many years with my usage projections.

I知 surprised so many are voting for LiFePo since the cost is double. I壇 think this crowd would tend to lean towards the less expensive capital outlay - with their own money. But... it gives me a good idea and leans me in that direction.

I don't do FB so not exactly sure what we are talking about. That said, have you completed an energy budget and established your design criteria? If so, what is the best fit for your mission & budget??

I love lithium but they are not cheap. If new to this lifestyle, I recommend starting with inexpensive FLA units. You'll likely learn a lot about what you really want/need. You may also trash the first set before figuring it all out.

That actually clears up some confusion. I was wondering why you'd redo what I thought was your bus, while at the same time thinking it made sense because I liked V2 better. Now I see V2 is really V1. Either way, they're both awesome, but I really like your build. A lot.

I'd personally stick with AGM so long as I was able to meet my energy storage requirements without compromise, had the space, and could handle the weight.

One thing though... AGMs require venting as well. They shouldn't out-gas during normal operation, but can and will do so if overcharged.

They are voting for the LiFePo, but they are not buying them.
