You don't like tuba music?

I love frogs. But they are water-born and thin skinned. We as humans might as well be s***ting in their mouths, as our industrial pollution spreads across the world. I say, owning a diesel bus.

Composting toilets are the way to go in that save-the-earth respect, but yea, they are ugly and nasty. Period.

I really have been thinking about this all day, and yea, I want a porcelain one, not plastic. Plastic is micro-porous; glazed ceramic is easier to clean and keep cleaner...will never have ingrown mold stains, etc.
And I am thinking about making my own...taking a pottery class for the learnin' needed, and access to a big enough kiln. Frog's head? Maybe. Probably something more stylishly simple, though, but more than just a basic round white bowl. need more thinking time....

Is this more in line with what you're thinking, aesthetically?

If you could give us an example of what suits your tastes, maybe there's a solution out there! Ornate? Simple? Bauhaus?

That one is much nicer than others I’ve seen. A great example would be that Wostman that was posted a few days ago. The problem I have is that all of the toilets look like something that would be in a retirement community

We don’t need or want a toilet that takes up a square meter. Porcelain, sleek, aesthetically pleasing. I’m not sure what else to say about it.

Thanks!

Dry toilets are few and far between. I haven't seen any porcelain ones. Here's another

I saw that one the other day. I think we will likely get the Wostman. They are $2,600 with the bin but toilet alone is $900. We can easily fit a bin into our under bus storage bins (aluminum toolbox)

I think I can clear up one issue. As far as size is concerned you will be hard pressed to find a traditional looking, sleek toilet that can compost. Traditional toilets don't have to hold any waste. They are designed to move it to a much larger holding tank. A composting toilet that is as small as a traditional toilet would be single use unless it's diverted to larger, hidden holding tanks.

By design, most composters are going to be bulky.

The Wostman has a separate holding tank which is great. That means no carrying **** through the bus, and we can empty the tank less because it’s 3x the size of a traditional composting toilet bin.

Check out Sunmar. Been using one for 10 years, no smell, looks acceptable, takes a bit of room, but it will give you 2 people use for weeks at a time

Absolutely not. We’ve found the “beautiful” “toilet of our dreams” so this thread is done. If anyone would like to send us more porcelain composting toilets you know how to find us.

Thanks everyone.

We have your basic bucket under a toilet seat built in over the rear wheel. We use "Dry Den" horse bedding as cover and pine bedding for the solids. No separation; we were pretty much being pushed to get out of the family's driveway.

Rare odor, usually on hot days and only fora a short time and it is usually a sawdust type of smell. It's a 4-gallon bucket so it gets changed every other day. Right now we just toss it with the trash (we're in an RV park) but we have considered making actual compost down the road.

For us, it's a lot less smelly than the chemicals in RV toilets and after watching our neighbor fight with his on a regular basis, I'm very glad that our worst plumbing problem is not letting it get too full. I take that back. It's when we discovered that the "super duty" trash liners leaked and we had to double bag it until we used up all the liners.

As far as appearance, it's custom built, we picked a seat we liked, routed nice cut outs for the storage (toilet paper and liners on one side and cover on the other side). It looks very nice and that's one of the greatest advantages of a Skoolie is that you can make it yours.

For those who are interested in composting toilets I found this video review to be educational.

A lot of people use composting toilet to conserve water and help the planet. If you’re using plastic bags for your **** you’re completely defeating that purpose.
