I have nothing against you making lifestyle choices you view as positive, I just don't think this is the solution I'm looking for. To each their own. If your pee smells better as a result, all the more power to you.

Try the vinegar. Also, avoid asparagus at all costs...that stuff will stank up your pee jug like nothing else.

Well, to be clear, I'm not trying to sell anyone anything. To each their own indeed. OP asked what they could do and that's a thing they can do.
I predicted eyerolls because so many people feel very strongly about eating meat and detest hearing anything different - but I'm not doing anything but making a polite suggestion in response to a request.

You could burn all it all like I do! It’s pricey but we all prioritize our expenses. This and the claw foot tub convinced my wife to get on board with this bus project.

Bus dwelling is a certain ideology that we all try to "sell" here.. The idea that less is more... Not eating meat would be very easy to bring in alignment with bus dwellers... Further in the future... this, not eating meat, will be just one of the social responsibilities required to allow billions of people to live on this planet in harmony and peace.

Thank you ladybird,

Johan

I was on a vegetarian diet for 2 years, I'm pretty sure if back then I peed in a bottle attached to a $1000 bucket, it would still stink after fermenting for a couple days.

This has been a great thread. As a newbie getting into this stuff, I have spent countless hours researching what toilet to go with. I do not want a blackwater tank to deal with. The pee jug on the natures head is a no go for me. The incinerator toilet sounds like a great idea, but to wait 25-30 min per flush might be something to get used to. So its either the EcoJohn or the Separett. Obviously for us, cost isn't an issue when it comes to crapping and peeing on the road. I get up at least 2-3 times to pee at night. Sometimes once and at that its a celebration!!

There’s always going to be something to dump, either black water or a urine jug, pee and poo in the same “bucket” is going to be smelly..

A cassette toilet is essentially just a micro size black tank .

Peeing in your gray water seems to create essentially a second black tank.

A marine style macerator probably makes emptying a black tank easier as you are less prone to large chunks clogging the hose.

At some point In any RV you have to move the poo.. whether it’s in a tank or bucket or bag or bottle..

if you really believe that we should stop eating meat then state to each their own is a confusing statement. your on both sides of this argument and have lost all credibility with me

I’m hoping someone has gone past page 1 of Google and has found a great composting toilet solution. The market is there.

If no one can help we will continue searching as we’ve always done. I appreciate everyone’s input but posting toilets and responses that don’t have anything to do with this thread reminds me of when we were looking for front load washers and everyone had a great opinion on top loaders. 🤷🏻
'I'm hoping that someone has gone past page one of Google'...that's a little harsh, don't you think, given this is a forum of volunteer contributors, not your personal valet service? I'm trying not to be too harsh myself but this thread is a little bit condescending.

Simple as this.. if you want to eat meat, eat it, if you don’t want to eat meat then don’t..

Easy as that..

On the other hand if you spend $5,000 on your conversion and you bought a $1,000 toilet then I would imagine spending a 5th of the cost of your conversion on a “nice” toilet would be quite satisfying.

I would edit my original post to specify “manufactured” if editing was allowed for more than an hour.
Interesting

I'm floating the idea of installing a black tank this week. I fear to poo in the composting loo!
