Freshwater pump freaking out

Hey people

Before I start, FYI, I have contacted the seller and am waiting to see if our pump is under warranty.

We have a Shurflo 2088 that we installed in our current build back in April. It's been working fine until recently. Now, every time we open a faucet, the pump, while pumping water sufficiently, fits and starts, like a vehicle that's running out of gas. Then when we shut off the faucet, the pump tends to run on, again like a vehicle that needs the timing adjusted.

It's not surging, like it would do if the accumulator wasn't doing it's job (which it is).

Has anyone else experienced this?

I appreciate any input.

We had a problem like that. Turns out the pressure switch (pump switch?) went bad. We ordered a new one on Amazon for like 20 bucks and we got back to normal. Its adjustable with an Allen screw on the top of the pump, so maybe it needs adjusting? Took all of 5 minutes to swap ours out, its just a couple of screws.
Do some searching online, maybe on Youtube, and you'll see what needs to be done.

Thanks Drew. That's what it seems like to me. I think the seller is going to replace it, because their reply to me was simply asking for our shipping address.

Well, a replacement pump is all the better. Ours lasted for over a year of full time use before the switch started flaking out so maybe yours failed prematurely.
Either way, nice to have a backup pump on hand.

The SHURflo 2088s are cheap enough that one can have two of them, plumbed and wired in parallel, and run either one or both depending on how much flow you need. This is what I did, using quick-disconnect fittings for their inlets and outlets and mounting each one on a quick-disconnect plate; this way it takes less than a minute and no tools to completely remove either pump and bring it inside for service. Easy!

I just replaced my pump to a flow max is it so quiet compared to my flow jet or shurflo and the pump turns of quicker after it pressurized was about 122.00 after tax

Thanks everyone!

So, the seller on Amazon responded pretty quickly and sent us a new one. It's working fine. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement switch for the 2088-554-144. Does anyone know of a source or if it can be interchanged with one for a different 2088?

I have had good luck using old air compressor switches with spring pressure turned way down. Just plump a tee in the line to thread it into. Also I have had better luck using both sets of points in parallel than using them one at a time. (originally with ac they are switching both legs so two sets available)
