Girard Venting?

I think I am going to be buying the Girard 2GWHAM tankless water heater. I was wondering if I could simply vent the exhaust pipe out of the bus wall as opposed to cutting out the whole 14x14 square. It looks like there is a switch and maybe one other thing I need access to on the open face of the water heater but I think I could have it off the wall a little bit and be able to reach my hand in.

Just follow the instructions. You will have to be in there a lot more often than you think. I know.

If you really hate the idea of a 14x14 hole, then look into the Suburban Nautilus IW60. Similar price and specs to the Girard, but only requires a 3.5" circular vent hole out the side. I have no performance review yet since I just cut the hole and installed yesterday. Online reviews for the Suburban are mixed, just like most other tankless water heaters. I couldn't fit a large square hole, so that's why I chose it.
